Reutzel Continues Pandemic Tour with World of Outlaws Pevely Double
Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (May 22, 2020) – Aaron Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team are back in action with a pair of World of Outlaws “Return to Racing” events at Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway this weekend.
The Friday night card offers up a $6,000 winner’s share while a whopping $20,000 is on the line in Saturday’s feature event.
It will be Reutzel’s first visit to I-55 Raceway since the 2018 edition of the Ironman 55.
Reutzel and the Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X Sprint Car team continue the Pandemic Tour after taking in last weekend’s Great Lakes Shootout at Minnesota’s Jackson Motorplex.
Reutzel piloted the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment machine to a 12th-place finish on Friday night before the Saturday finale fell victim to rain.
“We got a bad pill draw for qualifying,” Reutzel recalls. “Everybody was running the bottom and the top was all marbles, and with just one lap for qualifying it was tough to get a good lap in.”
Reutzel then climbed from fifth to third in his heat race to land the 15th starting position for the feature event aboard the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspension machine.
“We got a couple of positions early, then it went to pretty much one-lane around the bottom the rest of the way,” Reutzel says.
Already with four wins on the season, Reutzel and the BRM No. 87 team will be looking for more success at Pevely, Missouri this weekend.
2020 Quick Stats: 22 races, 4 wins, 11 top-fives, 15 top-tens.
Next Up: World of Outlaws Sprint Cars at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO, on Friday and Saturday.
