Reutzel Back to Jackson after Two More Top-Three Runs

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (September 1, 2017) – Aaron Reutzel and the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car team take to Minnesota for this weekend’s Jackson Fall Classic at the Jackson Motorplex after posting another pair of podium finishes last weekend.

Reutzel raced to third-place finishes in Arkansas and Tennessee in last week’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition at West Memphis’ Riverside International Speedway and Maryville’s Smoky Mountain Speedway.

This weekend, it’s back to the half-mile clay oval that Reutzel has enjoyed success at, including a July 28 win in 410-ci action aboard the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine.

“Hopefully we can continue that streak, it has been a money-maker for us,” Reutzel said of the Jackson Motorplex.

Last week’s pair of events got under way on Thursday night atop the ¼-mile Riverside International Speedway gumbo clay oval. And after charging from sixth to win his heat race, Reutzel started the feature from the pole position aboard the Nattress Construction/Wings Unlimited machine.

“We were really good in the heat race, we had a lot of speed,” Reutzel recalls. “We were really trying to keep an eye on the track, we knew that it would go away some.”

Go away it did. Unfortunately, more so than anticipated.

“We missed the setup bad, the track went away really bad in the first couple of laps,” Reutzel says.

Missing the setup, Reutzel still fought his way to a solid third-place finish in the Wright Way Logistics/Walker Performance machine.

“Tim Crawley was able to run the middle and the bottom, and we couldn’t do that,” Reutzel recounts. “He killed us.”

Moving on to Maryville, Tennessee’s Smoky Mountain Speedway for the first time on Saturday night, Reutzel started the feature in sixth after a second-place heat race showing.

Reutzel was on the move early, quickly advancing to third. “We got to third and were running down Wayne (Johnson) and Sam (Hafertepe, Jr.),” Reutzel relates. “Going through traffic, a rock or something knocked the nose wing down.”

The dislodged nose wing curtailed any further forward progress.

“I had to put the top wing further back, we were still too loose,” Reutzel says. “We hung on to finish third.”

With another pair of podiums in the books, Reutzel looks for more Jackson Motorplex success on Friday and Saturday before heading to Posse territory for next weekend’s $50,000-to-win Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway.

2017 Quick Stats: 60 races, 6 wins, 23 top-fives, 35 top-tens.

Up Next: Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at the Jackson (MN) Motorplex for the Jackson Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday.
