Reutzel Ready for Knoxville!

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (August 6, 2015) – Aaron Reutzel is in the midst of a career year.

With ten overall feature wins already, the driver of the Shark-powered BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car from Clute, TX, is leading the $60,000 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour title chase.

A Knoxville 360 Nationals crown would look awfully nice along with all the other hardware on the mantel.

The pursuit of that crown begins tonight for Reutzel and Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions team at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa’s Marion County.

“We’re as ready as we’re gonna be, I’m looking forward to the next couple of weekends in Knoxville,” Reutzel said.

Reutzel tried for an extra test run aboard the Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution machine atop the half-mile clay oval this past Saturday night.
A minor mechanical problem deterred that test effort.

“I felt it lay down a little bit,” Reutzel said. “We decided to play it safe and not make a big problem out of a little problem.”

After a pair of wins and no finish lower than fourth in the previous four ASCS National Tour events, Reutzel reeled off a pair of seventh-place runs at I-80 Speedway’s “Road to Knoxville” event in Greenwood, NE, last Thursday and Friday.

Reutzel raced forward in the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt machine on both nights, climbing eight positions from 15th on Thursday and then ten positions from 17th on Friday.

“We were fast on both nights, we just didn’t get out of the heats in good shape,” Reutzel said.

Track conditions made for difficult going. “It was hammer down, one lane on both nights,” Reutzel explains. “In Friday’s feature, everyone got balled up on the start and I went from 17th to ninth on the opening lap. The rest of the race, I passed one car and one car broke, it was that difficult to pass.”

With Nebraska in the rear view mirror, Knoxville Raceway is the focus for the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics Sprint Car with Thursday’s qualifying card to set the stage for Saturday’s Knoxville 360 Nationals finale.

After that, Reutzel jumps into the Roth Motorsports No. 83 for Sunday night’s Capitani Classic and then Monday’s NSL Front Row Challenge at Oskaloosa’s Southern Iowa Speedway before next week’s 55th Annual Knoxville Nationals.

2015 Quick Stats: 46 races, 10 wins, 25 top-fives, 34 top-tens.

Up Next: Knoxville 360 Nationals preliminary event on Thursday and finale on Saturday followed by Capitani Classic on Sunday, all at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway.
